    Nagarjuna Sagar Dam (Telugu: నాగార్జునసాగర్ ఆనకట్ట) is the world's largest masonry dam built across Krishna River in Nagarjuna Sagar,Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is downstream to the Nagarjuna sagar reservoir with a capacity up to 11,472 million cubic metres which is the world's largest man-made lake with a concrete wall of 6 ft. thickness. The dam is 490 ft. tall and 16 Km long with 26 gates which are 42 ft. wide and 45 ft. tall.[1]
    The Srisailam Dam is a dam constructed across the Krishna River at Srisailam in the Kurnool district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India and is the 2nd largest capacity hydroelectric project in the country.
    Srisailam (Telugu: శ్రీశైలం) is a holy town and mandal, situated in Nallamala Hills of Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located on the banks of River Krishna, about 232 km south of Hyderabad.

    Bhramaramba Mallikarjunaswamy Temple dedicated to Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy (a form of Shiva) and Devi Bhramaramba (a form of Parvathi) is located here and it is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Srisailam Dam, located about 245 km from Hyderabad and 132 km from Nandyal is a multipurpose dam has been built across River Krishna and caters to the irrigation and power needs of the state.



    The dam was constructed in a deep gorge in the Nallamala Hills, 300 m (980 ft) above sea level. It is {{convert|512|m|ft|abbr=on}r} long, 240.79 m (790.0 ft) high and has 12 radial crest gates. It has a huge reservoir of 800 km2 (310 sq mi). The left bank hydroelectric power station generates 6 × 150 MW of power and right bank generates 7 × 110 MW of power. the dam also surrounded by thick forests and beautiful sceneries.


    It is one of the earliest irrigation and hydro-electric projects in India. The dam provides irrigation water to the Nalgonda District, Prakasam District, Khammam District, and Guntur District.
